Great news for everyone living or working in Abu Dhabi or being bored of Dubai on Thursdays! We will start regular Zouk classes in the capital from August onwards every Thursday at The Village Club.

Beginners Class: 8:30 – 9:30 pm
Advanced Class: 9:30 – 10:30 pm

Please note, that classes have to be booked in advance!

From Monday 5th of July onwards we will start Zouk classes at a new venue: The Shelter Dubai. This is a creative community workspace within a re-designed warehouse near Mall of the Emirates, a very spacious location suitable for dance classes. There is also a brasserie offering snacks and refreshments.

Zouk instructor Kwok Wan from the Netherlands is visiting Dubai from Sunday the 2nd of May till Wednesday the 5th of May. He will conduct our regular Sunday class with Sam for the normal price of 40 Dhs and focus on the partner work and his unique counter technique of resistance and balance. There will be an additional workshop on Tuesday the 4th of May in the conference hall at Capitol Hotel (above Savage Garden) from 9 pm to 10:30 pm for a fee of 75 Dhs per person. Take this opportunity to improve your leading and following and learn from an international instructor. The 2nd Abu Dhabi Salsa Festival 2010 will be held at the Luxurious Yas Island Rotana Hotel and Etoiles club at the 7 Star Emirates Palace from Thursday the 22nd till Saturday the 24th of April 2010.
3 nights of spectacular dance shows and massive dance parties. More than 20 workshops over 2 days will be held for all levels, dancers and non dancers are welcome to watch, learn and dance.

The Zouk Highlights of this venue:

• Nayan & Karen will perform a Zouk show on Thursday night in Yas Island Rotana Hotel.
• On Friday morning from 10:15 am to 11:15 am Nayan and Sam will conduct a Zouk Workshop in Room 1 at Pearl Ballroom.
• Sam & Dorsai will perform a Zouk show on Saturday night at Etoilles, Emirates Palace.

Zouk-Lambada or Lambada-Zouk is a group of closely related dance styles based on or evolved from the lambada dance style and is typically danced to zouk music or music containing the zouk beat. It’s now one the most popular dances in Europe, Brazil, Australia and around the world.

Now in Abu Dhabi you have the chance to learn this romantic and sensual dance style at the most luxurious venue in the world. We would like to introduce our new Zoukers from Brazil. They are Karen and Pedro both from Rio De Janeiro. Together they bring us the wealth of more than 20 years of dancing experience in Zouk Lambada, Samba De Gafieira, Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Forro, Ball Room and Samba.

We hope we will be able to reach new heights and spread this amazing dance across the UAE. Zouk is getting increasingly popular amongst the dancing community in Dubai and with in such a short period since introducing Zouk to Dubai we now can enjoy 2 pure Zouk nights per week. Sundays in Savage Garden and the new venue organised by Ahmed Salsa a Zouk Bachata Night at Malecon on Mondays (—Update March 2010: The Zouk nights at Malecon have been cancelled unfortunately—).

We will continue to go forward with a clear vision of bringing this dance into prominence and we thank the Salsa community in Dubai for their support and encouragement.

On Sundays after our classes the DJ plays plenty of beautiful Zouk songs for our students to master their skills and throughout the week upon request.
